How long to transfer a used car registration in Morocco?

You have 30 days to file the application. In the event of a change of owner or the purchase of a vehicle (new or already registered in Morocco), you must file the registration or transfer application with the administration within a period not exceeding thirty (30) days from the date of the transaction (art. 59).

A few useful clarifications:

• For an imported and customs-cleared vehicle, the same 30-day period runs from customs clearance in Morocco (art. 59).
• For the commercial vehicles referred to in the first paragraph of Article 40, the period is extended to 90 days (art. 59).
• If you become the owner through inheritance, gift, partition, liquidation, assignment or auction sale, the period is likewise extended to 90 days (art. 60).
• After filing the application, the administration issues you the new registration certificate within a maximum period of three months (art. 59).

Yes, a technical inspection is required. Vehicles subject to registration must undergo a periodic technical inspection, and in particular prior to a change of owner (art. 66). Also remember to always keep the registration certificate on board while driving (art. 63).
